A look into open-source
When the Second Life Viewer was released as open-source, I gave it a go and tried it out. Many people (like me) only had the latest version of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005. Linden Labs is still working with 2003. A lot of problems occured that prevented us from building the code. I gave it a rest for a few months to hopefully see if the problems would be fixed. Today, Electric Sheep have offered space to host a copy of the source code so you can develop it seperate from the Linden Labs version. Most of the problems have been addressed for 2005, but personally, I still have a ton of build errors, and I get get something called cygwin to work that apparently fixes the problems. *sigh* Merino (3, 161) - Apr 22, 2007 (590 days ago) by Dedric Mauriac Tags for this Snapshot2003 2005 addressed apparently build building called code copy cygwin develop electric errors fixed fixes gave host labs latest life linden lot merino microsoft months occured offered opensource people personally prevented problems released rest seperate sheep sigh source space studio today ton version viewer visual work working Leave a CommentYou're not logged in.
